Thank you, acupressure!

At least once every day, I feel incredibly grateful for everything I've learned about traditional medicine. Especially because it is so practically applicable and I can pass that on in my lessons, Do-In Academy education, and just everyday life. For example, when I was walking with my daughter, when she suddenly got pain in her knee.

We sat down for a while and I felt the acupressure points around her knee to find out if something was not flowing properly. Indeed, Bladder 40 (also known as 54) in her popliteal cavity appeared to be a bit blocked. After a minute of examination and acupressure, the pain was less. After five minutes of walking calmly, the pain was gone.

On a hike - not long after the knee incident - I taught her Stomach 36 and Large Intestine 10. These acupressure points are known as "three miles points" because they would give you the strength to walk another three miles when tired. There is a lot more to tell about these points (for example that they also work rejuvenating), but that is not within the scope of this blog. As we walked, we tapped on these points every now and then for that little bit of extra power. To my daughter, I'm like a miracle doctor and my students sometimes call working with the meridians "almost magic." But in fact, it is nothing more than to understand the physical and energetic functioning of the body (as best as possible), so that you can understand all the signals and act on them. And the flow that gives in your body and life, awakens a deep sense of gratitude.
