The old child

As adults, we help children find their way in life. We teach them rules and manners. However, no one will deny that we can also learn a lot from children. Laozi, the Taoist teacher (he is often referred to as 'the old child') already showed us this.

As an adult it is important to retain or rediscover the playfulness and magical experience of life that are so characteristic of children. This keeps you curious. And when you're curious, you look at life with an inquisitive eye. This naturally leads to the mindfulness that so many people are looking for.

This topic came up when Anne Simone Kensho interviewed me for her online Summit Finding Your True North. We discussed how the meditative stories I wrote for children in my latest book Journey along to the Eagle learn to deal with difficult experiences or feelings in a playful way. When parents read from the book, they in turn step into the magical world that is so easy for children to enter. In the book you will get to know different power animals. They help you to let go of unpleasant feelings, to better understand complicated things, and to work together, for example. Through a down to earth shamanic approach (yes, this can certainly go hand in hand) children - and parents - go on a dream journey. This is instructive for both of them: children learn how to stay strong and maintain their natural curiosity in life. And adult learning to look at complicated things in a playful, intuitive way. Going on a dream trip together also creates a special connection between parents and children.

Journey along to the Eagle will be available soon on Amazon. The Summit Finding your true North will take place in September. The interview with me will be broadcasted on September 25. You can sign up for this free event via https://annekensho.mykajabi.com/yourtruenorth
